Smyth Moving Service of Alaska, Inc.

The trailers are transported via steamship from Anchorage to Seattle, taking about 4-6 days from sail date going in either direction.

CSX Corporation purchased SeaLand Services, Inc in 1986. CSX owns and operates the largest railroad east of the Mississippi River, in addition to trucking and intermodal companies. CSX Lines, LLC works closely with these CSX units to provide intermodal service throughout the United States.

Depending on your location in the Lower 48 states, your trailer may be transported via rail service. The exception being states such as Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, in which case they are strictly driven over the road.

If your belongings don't completely fill out your trailer, our crew can build what is called a bulkhead to secure the shipment inside. This insures that your household goods are held tightly and no shifting or tumbling occurs in transit.

At times, it is more cost effective to include your vehicle inside the same trailer as your belongings are loaded into. Certain criteria must be met in order for this to happen. Depending on the state you are relocating to/from, special blocking must be done to make sure your vehicle is safely secured into the trailer in order to meet the carrier's rules and regulations.

Smyth Moving Service has trained our crew in how to build this blocking so that your vehicle stays put!
